The House and Senate floors will get a break from the elaborate ceremonies of the past two days as the Capitol sleeps off last nights inaugural ball held for new Gov. Jay Inslee. Lawmakers will meet in committees all day and are not scheduled to conduct any business on the floor, though the Senate will hold a pro forma session at noon.
Booze bills are the topic of the day in the House Government Oversight & Accountability Committee, which will hear a proposal to allow sales of growlers of cider (House Bill 1008) along with a bill to create a license for movie theaters to sell beer and wine (House Bill 1009). Another bill before the committee, House Bill 1001, would ban people from purchasing liquor at self-checkout machines.
