People with old computers, TVs and related items can bring them to a special recycling and collection event Jan. 23-27 on Hannegan Road hosted by Boy Scout Troop 2010 out of Lynden.

The troop is having its third annual event to recycle certain electronics to keep toxins out of landfills.

Televisions, computers and monitors will be accepted for free. Printers, keyboards, photocopiers, other computer items and most smaller appliances are taken for a fee. Scrap metal and electrical cords also are being collected. Computers are wiped clean before recycling.

The first two years of the program recycled more than 65,000 pounds of electronics, according to the Scouts.

Drop-offs are taken 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday across the street from DeWaard & Bode, 4175 Hannegan. Details: highadventurescouting.org.
