Registration under way for parenting classes

Registration is open for a series of Parenting with Dignity workshops.

Mac Bledsoe, father of former National Football League quarterback Drew Bledsoe, will present one of the workshops.

The first workshop, "Being an Effective Parent in Today's Culture," is 9:45 a.m. to noon Feb. 2.

Mac Bledsoe is to speak on "Effective Discipline While Building and Maintaining Strong Parent-Child Relationships" from 2 to 4:15 p.m. Feb. 2.

The third workshop, "Helping Our Children Reach for the Stars and Achieve What They Choose," is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 4.

All of the workshops will be at the Richland library, 955 Northgate Drive. Cost is $20 per workshop. Registration is required and can be completed online at midcolumbiaparenting.org.

  • Drew Bledsoe's dad to present seminar in Richland for goalsetting parents

    Parents, coaches, educators and teens will be able to spend the evening with Mac Bledsoe in person on from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday when he will present a seminar called "Helping Our Children Reach for the Stars, and Achieve What They Choose."

    Mac Bledsoe will explain simple concepts on how children (and adults) can reach their high school, college, or career goals.

    These are the same steps his son, Drew Bledsoe, used to achieve NFL stardom without having super athletic ability. Parents are strongly encouraged to bring children ages 12 and up to this workshop.

  • Soil workshops offered free by WSU Extension

    Registration is now open for Washington State University Grant and Adams Area Extension's "Building Soil Tilth in the Columbia Basin" workshops.

    One workshop will be offered Tuesday at Big Bend Community College, 7662 Chanute St. N.E., Moses Lake.

    Another workshop will be offered Feb. 28 at the Best Western Hotel, 2811 N. 20th Ave., Pasco.

  • Understanding Conflict Workshop starts Feb. 27 in Bellingham

    BELLINGHAM - The Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center is offering a six-hour Understanding Conflict Workshop over two Wednesday evenings.

    The workshop is 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 27 and March 6 at the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center, 13 Prospect St., Suite 201.

    Cost is $75. Registration is required.

  • Hanford High offering dance workshop, clinic

    The Hanford High School Falcon Fever Dance Team is offering a dance workshop for elementary students and a tryout clinic for middle-school students.

    The workshop and clinic are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to noon Feb. 23 in the school gym, 450 Hanford St., Richland.

    Elementary students will learn a dance routine and participate in fun activities. Middle school students will learn a dance routine and other skills that will prepare them for dance team tryouts in the future.

  • W. Richland police to offer Parenting with Dignity class

    Registration is now open for a free Parenting With Dignity course, sponsored by the West Richland Police Department.

    The classes deal with a variety of topics and help parents discipline and teach their children.

    Classes will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evenings beginning Feb. 7 at Tapteal Elementary School, 705 N. 62nd Ave., West Richland. Child care is available for children ages 5 to 12. Space is limited.
