S enate Bill 5173, sponsored by Sen. Bob Hasegawa, D-Seattle, would allow parents to remove their children from school two days annually “for a reason of faith or conscience.” The bill would also allow state employees to take two additional unpaid holidays per calendar year and require employers to let employees take those unpaid days on dates that have religious or other significance.
