Two new members have joined the Federal Way City Council, filling seats that opened when a pair of council members won election to the Legislature last fall.
Kelly Maloney and Diana Noble-Gulliford were appointed and sworn in at a special council meeting Saturday.
The appointments followed an all-day selection process in which 20 candidates were interviewed.
Maloney works as director of marketing for Orion Industries and has volunteered on marketing and economic development projects for the city and the Federal Way Chamber of Commerce.
Noble-Gulliford operates a home inspection business and has long volunteered with groups such as the city planning commission and the Federal Way Historical Society.
City Council members Roger Freeman and Linda Kochmar were elected to the state House in November.
The council terms expire Dec. 31, so both seats will be on the ballot this fall.
