FERNDALE - The city will host the second annual Day of Giving 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, to replenish the Ferndale Food Bank.
The community donated 2,363 pounds of food and nearly $1,500 during the first event in 2012, according to a news release from the city of Ferndale.
Nonperishable foods and cash will be accepted at the following locations during the event:
City Hall, 2095 Main St.
True Value, 2000 Main St.
Haggen, 1815 Main St.
Cost Cutter, 1750 LaBounty Drive.
The Ferndale Food Bank needs the community's help the most early in the year, Mayor Gary Jensen said in the news release.
The food bank has seen a 44 percent increase in households served since 2009, according to the news release, and about 37 percent served are children.
