A 22-year-old man is scheduled for trial April 15 on allegations that while intoxicated outside a downtown Kennewick nightclub, he damaged a woman's car when he jumped on the windshield and roof.
Jovanny Miguel Vega of Pasco initially denied running over the car, then changed his story to say "he was being chased by people who wanted to assault him," court documents said.
Vega pleaded innocent to second-degree malicious mischief in Benton County Superior Court.
Kennewick police were dispatched Dec. 30 to Jack Didley's, 109 W. Kennewick Ave., for reports of a drunken man who was trying to fight numerous people.
At one point, the man -- later identified as Vega -- jumped so hard on the windshield of a white 1999 Ford Escort that its owner believed Vega would crack the window, court documents said.
The Ford owner told a detective she was parked near Kennewick and Benton Street when Vega ran over and jumped on the hood before making his way up to the roof, documents said. She immediately called police and followed the suspect until help arrived.
The damage was estimated at $1,000.
Man pleads innocent to sexual assault of teen
A Kennewick man is accused of sexually assaulting a young teen girl a year ago.
Carl Douglas Sundberg, 42, pleaded innocent during a Tuesday court appearance.
The charge -- third-degree rape of a child -- includes the aggravating circumstance that he used a position of trust to get close to the victim.
Kennewick police received a sexual assault referral from Child Protective Services in early January, and detectives contacted the victim at her school.
In further interviews, the girl talked about Sundberg's alleged actions between January and May 2012. The victim gave specific details that investigators used to question Sundberg, court records showed.
Sundberg, who was interviewed at the Kennewick Police Department, admitted that he inappropriately touched the girl and tried to have sex with her, records showed.
Sundberg is being held on $10,000 bail. Trial is set for March 11.
