The New York Jets could be ready to trade cornerback Darrelle Revis.

According to multiple reports, including CBSSports.com and the New York Daily News, Jets owner Woody Johnson indicated that the team needs to address the situation regarding Revis, who could become a free agent after the 2013 season.

The CBS Sports report said Johnson is uncertain about working out an extension with Revis and could seek to get maximum trade value for the All-Pro.

However, Revis is coming off major knee surgery after missing most of the 2012 campaign. He suffered a torn ACL in Week 3 against Miami after missing the previous game because of a mild concussion he sustained in the opener.

New Jets general manager John Idzik briefly addressed the report during his introductory news conference on Thursday and didn't get into details.

"I think it's way too premature to say anything specific," said Idzik. "I haven't even had a chance to get through our roster with Rex (Ryan) and his staff and the personnel staff."

Revis has had issues with the Jets' front office in the past. He had a lengthy holdout in 2010 before signing a seven-year contract that can void after four years if he doesn't skip training camp again.

The six-year veteran is considered one of the top defensive players in the league. He has 19 career interceptions.
