CRYSTAL SNOWSHOE TOUR
What: You can do more than ski at Crystal Mountain Resort. As the ski area continues to add amenities (check out the massive airbag for catching flying skiers and snowboarders), the ski area offers Saturday evening snowshoe tours. The 21/2-hour guided tour in the backcountry includes a fondue dinner and dessert in the lodge.
When: Check in at the rental shop at 3:15 p.m. Tour begins at 3:45 p.m.
Where: Crystal Mountain
History: This is the sixth season Crystal has offered snowshoe tours.
Activities: Snowshoeing and dinner
Getting there: Follow state Route 410 though Enumclaw and Greenwater to Crystal Mountain Boulevard. Turn left and continue until the road ends in Crystal’s parking lot.
Cost: $38 if you have your own snowshoes, $58 including rental
Also: Space is limited in the tours, so call ahead for reservations. The tours start about the time skiing stops and participants ride up the gondola at 4 p.m. Dinner includes salad, cheese fondue and dessert. They will have tours each Saturday this season through middle of April. There will be no tours on Feb. 23 and March 15. Poor weather could cancel trips.
