KGH seeking 'spokeskid' at today's Family Expo

Kennewick General Hospital is holding auditions to finds its new "spokeskid."

The hospital is looking for healthy kids ages 3 to 12, and the selected child or children will be featured in an upcoming health campaign.

Auditions will be held at the hospital's booth at the Family Expo, from noon to 8 p.m. Jan. 25 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.

There can only be one audition per child.

Each child must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who will be required to sign a consent form.

The EXPO will be held at TRAC, 6600 Burden Blvd., Pasco.

    A 20-month-old child brought to the emergency room at Kennewick General Hospital tested positive for meth Monday, according to Kennewick police.

    Christopher D. Jackson, 21, the child's uncle, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine and endangerment of a child with illegal drugs, according to Kennewick police. He also had two felony warrants for his arrest.

    The child's grandmother has custody of the child, but left the child with Jackson, her son, at his home. Jackson called his mother to tell her the child appeared to be sick, and she took the child to the hospital, according to the police report.

  • Ephrata woman pleads guilty to child abuse case

    An Ephrata woman was sentenced to one year in the Grant County Jail after allegedly leaving her son with her then-boyfriend, whom she knew was hitting the child.

    Amber Nicole Hull, 24, was sentenced after pleading guilty to assault in the fourth degree (accomplice) last week. Hull said that on Aug. 24-29, she left her son alone with her ex-boyfriend, who allegedly was abusing him, without calling the police or taking the child to the hospital.

    In September 2012, Seattle Child Protective Services (CPS) office advised Ephrata police to erform a welfare check on a child in that area. According to court documents, family members of the child reported seeing red marks and bruises on his body.

  • Training class offered to prevent sexual abuse

    Providence St. Peter Hospital is offering a class Thursday night for those interested in learning ways to prevent sexual abuse, according to a release. The class, from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. in Room 200 on the second floor of the Olympia hospital, is being put on for National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
