Brittney Griner set the NCAA career record for blocked shots while also scoring 15 points, and top-ranked Baylor extended its homecourt winning streak to 50 with an 82-65 victory over No. 20 Oklahoma on Saturday in Waco, Texas.

With eight blocks in the game before fouling out with five minutes left, the 6-foot-8 Griner has 665 career blocks, two more than Louella Tomlinson had for Saint Mary’s from 2007-11.

“As good as she is on the offensive end, where she really changes games is on the defensive end,” Oklahoma coach Sherri Coale said. “She obviously has the wingspan and the athleticism, but she also has that ornate sense that I think all great shot blockers have.”

By fouling out for the second time in her 131 career games, Griner missed a chance to also break the Big 12 scoring record before the Bears (18-1, 8-0 Big 12) play their next two games on the road. Her 2,833 career points are two shy of matching Oklahoma State’s Andrea Riley’s (2007-10).

Odyssey Sims had 12 points and 10 assists for Baylor, which has won 36 consecutive Big 12 games.

Aaryn Ellenberg scored 33 points for the Sooners (15-4, 5-2). Joanna McFarland had 12 points and 16 rebounds.

At No. 2 Notre Dame 89, Providence 44: Skylar Diggins scored 21 points, all in the first half when she was 9-for-9 shooting, and the Irish (18-1, 7-0 Big East) dominated the Friars (6-3, 1-5) from the start.

Tori Rule led Providence with 12 points.

No. 3 Connecticut 67, at Cincinnati 31: Stefanie Dolson scored 15 points in limited time, and the Huskies’ tough, physical defense allowed nine points in the first half.

UConn (18-1, 5-1 Big East) has won six in a row since a 73-72 loss to Notre Dame on Jan. 5.

The Bearcats (8-11, 0-6) have lost six in a row overall. They’ve been held to 45 points or fewer in each of past four games. Alyesha Lovett led Cincinnati with nine points.

No. 12 Oklahoma State 65, at Kansas 52: Toni Young had 15 points and 15 rebounds and Lindsey Keller added 14 points to lead the Cowgirls (15-3, 4-3 Big 12) past the Jayhawks (12-6, 3-4).

Chelsea Gardner had 14 points and nine rebounds for Kansas.

No. 24 Iowa State 53, at West Virginia 49: Hallie Christofferson scored 23 points and grabbed seven boards to lead the Cyclones (14-4, 5-3 Big 12) over the Mountaineers (11-8, 3-5).

Nikki Moody and Chelsea Poppens added 10 apiece for Iowa State, which snapped a two-game losing streak.
