T he Children’s Home Society of Washington has opened a new location in Tacoma that offers the home-visiting program, Parents as Teachers, free to at-risk families. Educators meet with families with mothers-to-be throughout pregnancy until the child is 3 years old to offer support and information to promote positive growth and development. Children’s Home Society received a $484,000 grant last October to expand the program in Pierce and other counties. The Tacoma office is located at McCarver Primary building, 2141 S. J St. To enroll in the program and for more information, call 253-571-4931.
