Board members are responsible for ensuring the American Red Cross' Idaho chapter has the financial resources needed to fulfill its mission, communicating the Red Cross mission to the community, and supporting the organization through volunteerism.
Selected candidates will be presented for election for a three-year term at the chapters annual meeting May 17. People interested in serving on the board of the American Red Cross of Greater Idaho should submit a letter of interest, resume, and application by 5 p.m. Feb. 25. Applications are available online at www.redcrossidaho.org and should be sent to the Red Cross Boise office, located at 146 South Cole Road, Boise, Idaho 83709.
The candidate review process will consist of interviews and reference, examination of conflicts of interest and background checks.
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies about 40 percent of the nation's blood for transfusions; teaches skills aimed at saving lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the American public to perform its mission.
