Communications center exceeds national standards in 2012

The City of Puyallup’s communications center exceeded national standards for 9-1-1 call answering times last year.

The City of Puyallup’s communications center exceeded national standards for 9-1-1 call answering times last year.

For 2012, dispatchers answered 9-1-1 calls within the first 10 seconds 94.47 percent of the time, exceeding the national standard of 90 percent.

Also in 2012, dispatchers answered 99.85 percent of 9-1-1 calls within 20 seconds, exceeding the national standard of 95 percent.

The communications center answered 47,623 emergency calls last year.
