Carl R. Hogan of Puyallup was elected president of the Washington State Fair by the board of directors following the annual shareholders meeting earlier this month.
Other elected officers include: Gary F. Gonter, vice president; Michael D. Nelson, secretary; David R. Campbell, treasurer; and Kent R. Hojem, CEO.
Hogan’s responsibilities will include overseeing events at the facility throughout the year, as well as the rollout of the new fair name, the Washington State Fair. It has previously been known as The Puyallup Fair.
Activities Hogan will oversee include the four-day Spring Fair April 18-21; the Puyallup Fair Foundation Roundup Auction/Dinner on Aug. 9; the 17-day Washington State Fair, Sept. 6-22; and Oktoberfest, October 4-6.
Hogan, 75, was born in Tacoma and raised in Puyallup. He received a bachelor of arts degree in business from the University of Washington and was a member of Theta Chi fraternity. He owns Willow Capital and Citation Management, which focuses on shopping centers and real estate management.
Hogan has been married to his wife, Betty, for 50 years. They have two children, Wendy Dent (Charlie) and Jeff Hogan (Kristin) and six grandchildren.
