Online jockeying: Gov. Butch Otter is encouraging Idahoans to sign an online petition supporting an Idaho health exchange. But the Idaho Freedom Foundation, which opposes the exchange and anything else connected to President Obama’s health care act, put up an anti-exchange petition. “We’ll continue to have it up as long as it appears it’s attracting attention and it’s helping Idahoans have their voices heard,” Foundation Director Wayne Hoffman told the Times-News in Twin Falls.
Mischief in the making: Times-News reporter Melissa Davlin wrote that after she spoke with Hoffman, she “heard that a handful of pranksters posted online that they planned to put fake signatures on the Freedom Foundation’s petition.”
Few fakes: Hoffman told Davlin that of 200 signatures in the first three hours, five or six were phony. He also said that some who signed the governor’s petition were either “bureaucrats or lobbyists paid to promote the exchange.”
What’s next? The governor and Hoffman plan to forward their petitions to lawmakers, who are beginning to consider the exchange.
