Dennis Huston may accept some responsibility today for his alleged role in embezzling at least $1.8 million from Franklin County, according to court officials.
Huston is expected to plead guilty at a hearing in Franklin County Superior Court.
He is charged with first-degree theft, money laundering and cocaine possession.
Details of the potential plea were not available Wednesday. If he does plead guilty, sentencing will be at a later date.
Defense attorney John Jensen told the court last Friday that the case may be resolved this week. His trial is scheduled for March 6.
Huston was the county's public works accounting and administrative director before his arrest and firing in February 2012.
It is alleged he submitted false invoices to the county on behalf of a former Spokane company so he could get money to support his cocaine and gambling habits.
