Do you enjoy science fiction? The Bellingham Herald is looking for six Whatcom County residents interested in co-writing a serial science fiction story set in the county 100 years in the future.

Once the project begins, each writer will have a week to write a chapter of up to 800 words, based on prior chapters already finished. The six chapters will appear in the Herald mid-July through mid-August.

People interested in participating should send their name, phone, email, writing samples or links to samples, and a short synopsis of a possible science fiction story, to Dean Kahn at dean.kahn@bellinghamherald.com.

Information and samples also can be submitted online at extra.bellinghamherald.com/contact, to "Science Fiction Serial," c/o The Bellingham Herald, second floor, 1155 N. State St., Bellingham, WA 98225; or hand-delivered to the Herald business office.

The deadline to apply is March 10. Details: Dean Kahn, 360-715-2291.
