A 20-month-old child brought to the emergency room at Kennewick General Hospital tested positive for meth Monday, according to Kennewick police.
Christopher D. Jackson, 21, the child's uncle, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine and endangerment of a child with illegal drugs, according to Kennewick police. He also had two felony warrants for his arrest.
The child's grandmother has custody of the child, but left the child with Jackson, her son, at his home. Jackson called his mother to tell her the child appeared to be sick, and she took the child to the hospital, according to the police report.
The child was held overnight for observation at the hospital.
The grandmother told police she believed the child had been exposed to meth accidentally. Child Protective Services took the child into protective custody, according to police.
