Some things just don’t get decided in the regular season.

Some things just don’t get decided in the regular season.

Like boys basketball championships in the SPSL 3A and SPSL 2A Leagues.

Preseason favorite Enumclaw did its job by winning at Bonney Lake, 71-53, on Friday night to forge a three-way tie atop the SPSL 3A standings.

Drake Rademacher tallied 13 of his game-high 23 points to break open a tight game in the third quarter for the Hornets.

Now, Enumclaw, Lakes and Auburn Mountainview – all 7-3 in league – will play mini-tiebreakers Tuesday night at Bonney Lake High School.

Lakes and Enumclaw will play a half, or two eight-minute quarters, in the first game at 6:30 p.m. The loser grabs the No. 3 seed to the sub-district tournament while the winner plays Auburn Mountainview for the No. 1 seed.

“I cannot remember a case where this happened at the top of a league,” Auburn Mountainview coach Terry Johnson said. “And Decatur was right there with us. Our league is very even.”

All three teams, along with Kennedy Catholic, will make up the sub-district tournament, which will be held at Auburn Mountainview.

Meanwhile, sixth-ranked White River came into the night with a chance to win the SPSL 2A outright – and lost at Sumner, 62-42. Keenan Jackson scored 20 points for the Spartans, and Riley Bruil made six 3-pointers to help spark the upset.

That helped No. 4 Clover Park, which defeated Steilacoom, 77-47, on the road Friday, earn a share of the SPSL 2A title.

And last week, both White River coach Rick Tripp and Clover Park coach Mel Ninnis decided to break any ties atop the league standings with a coin flip. The Warriors won, and will be the No. 1 seed to the sub-district tournament next week at Foster High School. White River will be the No. 2 seed.
