ROTC informational meeting set Thursday at Southridge

High school juniors interested in the Reserve Officers Training Corps, or ROTC, are invited to an informational meeting.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Southridge High School library, 3520 Southridge Blvd., Kennewick.

  • Kennewick experiments with aquifer water storage

    Kennewick will be experimenting with a novel way of making sure the city has enough water to meet peak demand during the summer months.

    The $4 million project involves using an existing aquifer in the Southridge area to store water removed from the Columbia River during the winter when water is plentiful.

    Construction is expected to go to bid in the next month, said Evelyn Lusignan, Kennewick customer service manager. It should be finished in early 2014.

  • Learn about 'couponing' at community class

    Community Education is offering a "Crazy for Coupons" class.

    Participants will learn about getting the most for their money.

    The class will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Southridge High School, 3520 Southridge Blvd., Kennewick.

  • Southridge High School to hold fundraiser

    Southridge High School in Kennewick is sponsoring a Shoot for The Arc event featuring a dunk contest and a basketball game of Southridge students versus staff.

    It starts at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

    Cost is $3 in advance and $4 at the door.
