Lamar Patterson scored 12 points and the Panthers (19-5, 7-4 Big East) pulled away on a game-ending 18-8 surge to defeat the visiting Pirates (13-10, 2-8).

Freshman center Steven Adams added eight points, 15 rebounds and two blocks for Pittsburgh, which won for the sixth time in its past seven games.

Fuquan Edwin led Seton Hall with 23 points but injured his right ankle midway through the second half.
