J an. 25 — A man went to the Gig Harbor Police Department to turn in mail he found in his driveway. The mail, which belonged to another couple, was placed into the department’s property room for safe keeping. There were no suspects at the time of the report.

    Two neighboring homes on Desert Springs Avenue in south Richland were damaged Friday night in a fire. No one was hurt in the blaze, which broke out about 8 or 8:30 p.m., said Battalion Chief James Hempstead of the Richland Fire Department.

    It appears the fire started outside, possibly in a fence line area between the homes, he said.

    The cause is under investigation.
