Jenna Gordon, an eighth-grade student at Kopachuck Middle School near Gig Harbor, recently served as a page in the Washington House of Representatives. She was sponsored by Rep. Jan Angel, R-Port Orchard.
Paging presents students with a unique educational opportunity to participate in the legislative process. Their duties vary from ceremonial tasks, such as presenting the flags, to operational chores like distributing amendments during legislative sessions.
Serving as a page provided Gordon with a great first experience working in state government.
“It’s been like a milestone in my life because I’ve been really interested in government. I’m just so happy to be here,” she said.
Gordon added that she is looking forward to learning more about local policy, noting that she’s trying to decide whether to become a pediatric nurse or work somewhere in government.
She is the 14-year-old daughter of Mike and Mikki Gordon of Fox Island.
