Live music will again be a part of the Tides Tavern experience, at least for one night next week.

The Gig Harbor landmark once regularly hosted live bands, but in recent years had phased live music out of its repetoire, as the Gateway chronicled in December.

But on Tuesday, in celebration of Mardi Gras, the Tides will host the Folichon Cajun Band, a Seattle-based zydeco act, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Tides general manager Kristin Bergeson said that the tavern wanted to bring back more live music this year, to mark the Tides' 40th anniversary.

"We've been excited feature more music, and so we just pulled the trigger," Bergeson said. "It could be a flop, but it doesn't matter - we're very excited."

The Mardi Gras event will also feature gumbo and specialty cocktails. There will be no cover charge.
