Run for Jacoby, a new 5-kilometer race organizers hope will blossom into an annual event, will take place Feb. 18 at Rogers High School.
In November, Jacoby Miles, a 15-year-old gymnast from Puyallup, suffered a neck injury while dismounting the uneven bars. She was paralyzed from the chest down. All proceeds from the run her in her honor will be donated to her family.
Only a dozen runners had registered for the race as of Feb. 7. “We need to get the word out,” said race organizer Rob Hester.
The race is $25 for those signing up in advance and $30 for those signing up the morning of the race. The race begins at 9 a.m. at the Rogers High School track. For more information visit databarevents.com/runforjacoby.asp.
