Caleb Dawson, a senior at Federal Way High School, worked with friends to collect nearly 8,000 pounds of food with a “253 Scares Hunger” event coordinated with the national Free the Children—We Scare Hunger Halloween food drive. Dawson, who has collected food instead of candy at Halloween for years, helped rally 400 young people from 18 schools to fill a truck with food.
