Look for construction to begin next year on a $180 million “life care” continuing care retirement community in Gig Harbor.
Redmond-based Emerald Communities has announced it will build a 17-acre complex to be called “Heron’s Key” in the Harbor Hill area of Gig Harbor North.
The community will include 170 independent living apartments, 10 duplex cottages, 12 assisted living suites and 45 skilled nursing private rooms.
Tom Stanfield, marketing and sales director, said Monday the facility was in its “pre-marketing phase” and may be ready for occupancy in late 2016 or mid-2017.
Residents will pay a one-time entrance fee beginning at $215,000, plus a monthly fee beginning at $2,500. Interested parties can currently offer a $1,000 refundable deposit to ensure entrance into a “priority program” that will allow them to meet future residents, be a part of the planning process and earn priority status when choosing a floor plan.
Heron’s Key will employ some 125 workers when built. The parent company, which also operates a similar community in Redmond, has hired Bremerton architectural firm Rice Fergus Miller to design the master plan.
