Puyallup High School’s 60-piece wind ensemble won the KJR 95.7 FM’s “School of The Rock — Battle of the Bands” radio station contest. The group’s winning song was its rendition of “Karn Evil 9” by the classic rock trio Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

It was Judge Vicci Martinez who announced the wind ensemble as the grand-prize winner. It’s the third time in four years that Puyallup High School has won. The prize was $10,500.

Representatives of KJR 95.7 FM in Seattle and The Rock Wood Fired Pizza restaurant presented the school with an oversized check and a grand-prize trophy in a surprise announcement during a live radio broadcast.
