Emerald Ridge gymnasts heading to state meet

The Emerald Ridge Jaguars won the West Central District III/Greater Spokane District VIII gymnastics meet Saturday at Mount Rainier High School.

The Emerald Ridge Jaguars won the West Central District III/Greater Spokane District VIII gymnastics meet Saturday at Mount Rainier High School.

The Jaguars compiled 176.375 points and advanced to the Class 4A state meet as a team. The state competition will begin Friday at the Tacoma Dome’s convention center.

Emerald Ridge went undefeated this season and won the South Puget Sound League regular season title.

Senior CaroLyne Schmidt won the all-around and vault portion of the regional meet. Elizabeth Clemens won the beam and floor segments.

Other team members include Elisabeth Abbott, Alyssa Armstrong, Shannon Cribbin, Lexi Dacca, Mandi Hovde, Lexi Miller, Celia Peacock, Abby Newby, Kiersten Smith and Allison Wertenberger.
