Pasco police investigate Tuesday night shooting

A 42-year-old man was shot in Pasco around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The confrontation occurred at 226 N. Oregon Ave., said Pasco police Sgt. Ben Majetich.

The suspect was found at the scene and is in police custody, he said. The suspect's identity was not released.

Majetich said the shooting does not appear to be gang related.

The victim was taken to Richland's Kadlec Regional Medical Center, he said. His condition was not available.

The incident still is under investigation.

    PASCO -- The Pasco Police Department will be cracking down on illegally tinted windows starting May 20.

    The department has seen an increase in illegally tinted windows in recent months and will be more strictly enforcing window laws to ensure officer and pedestrian safety, said Pasco Communication Specialist Jon Funfar.

    Drivers with illegally tinted windows will be stopped and cited.

    Ramirez-Mendoza is being held on $2,500 bail.

  • Fifth suspect jailed in Kennewick drive-by

    Kennewick police on Wednesday said they arrested the last of five suspects in a suspected gang-related drive-by shooting earlier this week.

    Eduardo Morfin-Mendoza, 20, who uses the nickname "Tigger," of Pasco, was booked into the Benton County jail on investigation of drive-by shooting, unlawful possession of a gun and possessing stolen property.

    The drive-by happened Monday night on the 1300 Block of South Beech Street, police said. No one was hurt in the shooting.

  • Pasco man found in hotel died of inhaling smoke

    The man found dead Tuesday in a Pasco hotel has been identified as Pete Martinez, 61, of Pasco.

    Franklin County Coroner Dan Blasdel said in a Thursday news release that he died from inhaling smoke and carbon monoxide. His manner of death is undetermined, said the release.

    The circumstances are suspicious enough that police are investigating the death as a possible homicide.

  • Finley man arrested in Pasco shooting

    Pasco police Wednesday afternoon arrested Manuel Preciado, 36, of Finley, in connection with a shooting in the 700 block of South Owen Avenue earlier in the day.

    Police said a shooting victim walked into a Tri-City emergency room at 11:30 a.m. after having been shot in the back during an argument in his front yard. The wound was not life threatening.

    Preciado was arrested in North Franklin County about 4:30 p.m. on suspicion of felony assault, police said.
