Tacomas Franciscan Health System announced today it plans to expand its presence in Auburn with the fall opening of a new primary and specialty care facility on Auburns main arterial.
The move will better position Franciscan to compete with its Tacoma rival, MultiCare Health System, which last year acquired Auburn Regional Medical Center.
The new Franciscan facility at 205 10th St. NE is adjacent to Auburn Way N., Auburns principal north-south traffic artery, and about 10 blocks from MultiCares hospital and clinic complex in downtown Auburn.
Franciscan and MultiCare in recent years have been building and acquiring hospitals and clinics and creating alliances with health care providers throughout Pierce, Kitsap and King counties.
Franciscan now has two hospitals in King County, St. Elizabeth in Enumclaw and St. Francis in Federal Way. It is also exploring an alliance with Buriens Highline Medical Center.
MultiCare has announced plans to build a new hospital in Covington in addition to its acquisition of Auburn Regional Medical Center last fall.
Franciscans Auburn plans include leasing some 21,000 square feet of a new, two-story medical building being developed by Latitude Development LLC. The 38,000-square-foot, mixed-use building will be named the Franciscan Medical Pavilion Auburn.
Franciscan plans to open in the new building, which is under construction, next November.
The new facility will feature a Franciscan primary care practice with extended hours, lab, retail pharmacy, and specialty physicians in cardiology, vascular surgery, endocrinology and general surgery, the medical care concern said.
Like MultiCare, has dozens of medical facilities in south King, Pierce and Kitsap counties.
We are very pleased to provide families in the growing Auburn area with a broad array of high-quality services as we fulfill our mission to create healthier communities, said Stephen Spare, president and chief medical officer for Franciscan Medical Group. This new facility will help us improve access and make it easier to get expert health care close to home.
Donovan Brothers, Inc. is the General Contractor for the project. Jon Graves Architects and Planners, PLLC is the project architect.
