City of Gig Harbor announces summer concert, movie lineups

The City of Gig Harbor has released the lineups for this year's Summer Sounds at Skanskie and CinemaGig Outdoor Movie Series.

The City of Gig Harbor has released the lineups for this year's Summer Sounds at Skanskie and CinemaGig Outdoor Movie Series.

The Summer Sounds concerts are held every Tuesday, from June 25 until Aug. 20, and are held at Skanskie Brothers Park in downtown Gig Harbor, beginning at 6:30 p.m. All concerts are free and will be held regardless of weather.

The Summer Sounds lineup:

June 25: The Gothard Sisters (Celtic music and dance)
July 2: Blue Rocket Music (blues, country and rockabilly)
July 9: The New Blues Brothers (also Crime Stoppers Night)
July 16: The Army National Guard Band (patriotic)
July 23: The Beatniks (rock and dance, streets will be closed)
July 30: Cooks ("human jukebox")
Aug. 6: Bump Kitchen (funk and R&B)
Aug. 13: Rye & Barley (traditional Irish music)
Aug. 20: Kim Archer Band (classic rock)

CinemaGig outdoor movies will also be held at Skanskie Brothers Park, due to ongoing construction at Donkey Creek Park. Movies will screen on Fridays and Saturdays in July and August, and will be canceled in cases of rain or wind. Listed times are approximate, and bringing chairs and blankets is recommended.

"America's Pastime" weekend:
July 5: "Field of Dreams," 9:15 p.m.
July 6: "The Sandlot," 9:15 p.m.


"America's Favs" weekend:
July 19: "American Graffiti," 9 p.m.
July 20: "The Princess Bride," 9 p.m.

"Environmental" weekend:
Aug. 2: "The Lorax," 8:30 p.m.
Aug. 3: "FernGully: The Last Rainforest," 8:30 p.m.

"Classics" weekend:
Aug. 16: "Casablanca," 8:15 p.m.
Aug. 17: "The Sound of Music," 8:15 p.m.
