The Washington State Patrol has arrested 467 people suspected of driving under the influence in Thurston and Pierce counties this year.

If arrests continue at the same rate, the State Patrol will make the same amount of arrests that were made last year. There were 3,830 drivers arrested who were believed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs in 2012.

“That is a big number,” said Trooper Guy Gill. “I imagine if you asked them today, every single one regret their decision to get behind the wheel.”

In addition, 452 suspected drunk drivers were arrested from Nov. 24, 2012, to Jan. 2 during holiday emphasis patrols.
