The City of Tacoma has hired Andrew Cherullo, the chief financial officer for the Washington State Health Care Authority, to be its next finance director.
“I stand prepared to help the organization tackle its budgetary challenges, move in a positive direction and maintain financial performance during these challenging times,” Cherullo said in a news release Friday announcing his hiring.
Cherullo is set to start his job Feb. 28 and will earn $172,619 per year. He will replace Steve Call, interim finance director, who helped guide Tacoma through its 2013-14 budget overhaul.
Call, a retired King County budget director, was tapped to temporarily fill the job in mid-2012 after new City Manager T.C. Broadnax fired then-Finance Director Bob Biles.
According to his LinkedIn account, Cherullo has more than 15 years’ experience in financial management.
