Rogers High School was among 166 school-based enterprises in the United States this year to achieve Gold Level Certification and will compete at DECA’s International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, Calif.

Rogers High School was among 166 school-based enterprises in the United States this year to achieve Gold Level Certification and will compete at DECA’s International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, Calif.

School-based enterprises help prepare students for the transition from school to work or college. In order to apply for certification, schools must submit extensive documentation showing their adherence to marketing and retail standards.

The schools are scored based on the number of tests given for Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate Education divided by the number of students who graduated that year.

  • Kindergarten registration Saturday at Peninsula schools

    Fall kindergarten registration for the Peninsula School District will be from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday. Parents will register at their neighborhood school; a birth certificate, immunization records and proof of address are needed.

    Sean Shaughnessy will begin July 1 as principal of Roosevelt Elementary School.

  • Program helps women enter construction field

    Applications are being taken for the YouthBuild program in the Yakima Valley. Low-income women ages

    16-24 are encouraged to apply.

    Participants will have the opportunity to complete their high school diploma or earn their GED, learn residential construction and earn a construction certification.
