Power remains out in much of downtown Puyallup this morning following an overnight car wreck, police reported.
A car slammed into a utility pole in the 400 block of 2nd Avenue Northeast about 1:30 a.m., severing the pole near its base, police said.
The driver suffered only a minor injury, but power was knocked out to a large section of the northeast and northwest parts of the city.
Much of the power is still out this morning, including at many businesses and some schools, said police, who urged people to use caution when approaching intersections where traffic signals have been darkened.
There is no firm estimate on repairs.
Original collision was caused by a recklessly driven vehicle that lost control, police tweeted about 6 a.m.
