Toll increases on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge curtail my trips across the bridge. The higher the toll goes, the less I will cross it. I can go to Silverdale if I need to go to a mall.
That is probably how a lot of people see it unless they have to cross the bridge for work every day or for medical appointments.
As Gig Harbor continues to grow with more stores and services, people will make fewer trips to Tacoma.
My daughter lives in Gig Harbor but has to drive to Tacoma for work five days a week. That toll is costing her $1,040 a year just to get to work. If the electronic pass goes up to $6, she will move to Tacoma.
