Tumwater School District officials will talk about how they are addressing school safety concerns from 6:30-7:30 p.m. today at the district office, 621 Linwood Ave. SW.

The event is part of the district’s monthly Community Roundtable series and is open to the public. Officials will answer questions and talk about the district’s safety measures before and after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

    The Kennewick School Board agreed recently to spend about $60,000 to outfit almost all of the district's buses with cameras and video recorders. They'll be installed this summer and be ready for the start of school in the fall.

    Bullying on buses is among the top concerns of students according to a district report, and board members have said the cameras are one measure to combat the problem.
