Education reform tour makes Tacoma visit today to discuss business

A cross-country educational reform tour visits Tacoma today. The event, sponsored by the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, will host education, government and business leaders “to address the current state of education reform and what’s next for Washington schools,” said the sponsors.

A cross-country educational reform tour visits Tacoma today. The event, sponsored by the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, will host education, government and business leaders “to address the current state of education reform and what’s next for Washington schools,” said the sponsors.

The object of the tour is to highlight the role of business in reform and to encourage local leaders to become catalysts for change. Cecelia Retelle, senior policy director for the Institute for a Competitive Workforce, will be the keynote speaker.

The event begins at the Hotel Murano with the film “Won’t Back Down” at 3 p.m. The keynote address is set for 6 p.m. The panel discussion will start 15 minutes later.
