Count Tacoma City Councilman Ryan Mello and former state Senate candidate Jack Connelly among prominent Tacomans who’ve been hacked.
During a rash of social media hackings in recent days, Twitter accounts for both Mello and Connelly have been tweeting direct messages to followers that contain links to so-called “phishing” websites designed to trick people into relinquishing personal and financial information.
The suspect tweets from @RyanMello and @ConnellyJack seem personal in nature, directing recipients to a link with a question: “Did you see this pic of you? lol.”
But the attached links end up taking unsuspecting followers on a phishing trip.
