BELLINGHAM - Hundreds of Western Washington University students gathered in Red Square Wednesday, Feb. 20, to get in on the Harlem Shake dance sensation that's been blowing up on YouTube in recent weeks.

The students, many in costumes that ranged from the silly to the risqué, assembled in the cold, dreary weather starting at 2 p.m.

Less of a dance than a bit of group madness, the Harlem Shake begins with one person dancing. In this case, organizer and WWU junior Joe Corpus dressed in the official Viking mascot costume as he got the shake under way.

The music dipped. Then the song from Baauer let loose, as did the students.

A few minutes later it was all over - and headed to YouTube to join the thousands of others already online.
