Friendly Visitors, a nonprofit program of Visiting Nurse Home Care, will offer training Feb. 27 and March 26 for people interested in participating.
The program reaches out to isolated and lonely seniors in Whatcom County by matching them with a trained volunteer who makes a weekly visit to share conversation, an outing or a hobby. Friendly Visitors began making matches nine years ago; each year, volunteers make about 1,800 visits.
