Strong winds are for the most part not considered something to get excited about. But Recent Gig Harbor transplant Josh Bode made time to enjoy the sustained winds while kite boarding in Henderson Bay Monday afternoon. The former kite boarding instructor, who moved from Florida to the harbor, took some time to enjoy the sport he loves.
The sun was out, the winds were strong, and Bode was entertaining himself and anyone who crossed the Purdy Spit with his aerial antics. Kite boarding uses a medium sized parafoil-like wing to catch the wind. The airfoil is attached to controlling cords that the boarder uses to steer while skimming the water on a board that is not unlike a traditional snowboard.
The cold water was repelled by Bode's wetsuit and his ear to ear grin.
