Downtown business owner and community activist Patricia Lecy-Davis announced Monday she intends to run for the Tacoma City Councils District 2 Council seat.
Patricia Lecy Davis headshot BWIm running because I believe that our citizens deserve the most committed representation possible, Lecy-Davis is quoted in a press announcement issued Monday. I will work hard to meet and engage with the people across this district, and to bring a voice to their issues on the City Council.
Lecy-Davis was among seven applicants to apply to the seat vacated Dec. 31 by Councilman-turned-state Rep. Jake Fey. During her appointment interview in January, she told council member she would run for the seat whether she won appointment or not. The council ultimately selected lobbyist Robert Thoms to fill out the remaining year left of Feys second council term.
Two days after being selected, Thoms filed his candidates registration to run for the seat when it comes up for election later this year. Lecy-Davis is the first candidate to emerge so far to challenge him.
