About 30 members of the Peninsula Orthopedic Guild gathered to break ground Tuesday morning at the site of their new thrift shop near the intersection of Kimball Drive and Pioneer Way. The Guild’s shop in the same location was damaged in a fire last July, and members have been working with architect David Freeman and contractor Kelly Oswalt to develop plans for a new building. Freeman said he expects to pull permits from the city to begin construction sometime this week. Oswalt will work with other local contractors, as well as members of the Gig Harbor Rotary Club, including Freeman, to construct the new building during the next three to four months.
