A 45-year-old man who was injured in a crash while fleeing Auburn police on Interstate 5 earlier this month has died from his injuries, the Washington State Patrol said Tuesday.

The man, Victor Wilson of Auburn, died Feb. 6, according to the State Patrol.

The pursuit started just before midnight Feb. 4 when Auburn police began chasing a stolen 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The chase was on southbound I-5 from just south of the Federal Way weigh scales to just south of Port of Tacoma Road, where the 22-year-old driver lost control.

The driver swerved and the car crossed all lanes and went into the median, where it hit the cable barrier, according to the State Patrol. Neither the driver nor Wilson was wearing seat belts and they were thrown from the car.

No charges have been filed against the driver.
