A man wanted for nearly two years for allegedly stealing 600 pounds of metal from a Tacoma recycling yard has been arrested.
Stephen Passmore, 49, was taken into custody Friday while leaving a Spanaway home. He pleaded not guilty Monday to first-degree trafficking in stolen property. Bail was set at $15,000.
A warrant was issued for him in September 2011, months after the April 27, 2011, burglary. He has been featured on Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers’ website and “Washington’s Most Wanted” TV show.
According to charging papers, Passmore parked a rented vehicle outside Tacoma Metals, 1754 Thorne Road. He and an associate then threw about 600 pounds of brass valves and radiators over the fence and hauled them away.
They later sold the items as scrap metal to a local company for $1,500.
