A man charged with shooting an acquaintance in the face after being refused bail money was arrested Tuesday, Tacoma police said.
Ervin Banks, 55, pleaded not guilty to first-degree attempted murder, first-degree burglary for the Feb. 4 incident at an apartment in the 1100 block of Highland Avenue. He was ordered jailed on $1 million bail.
He eluded officers earlier in the month. Police spotted him Tuesday after a special bulletin was put out with Banks’ photograph and information.
Banks allegedly called the acquaintance to ask for bail money – something the victim had lent him in the past – and got upset when he was refused.
Moments after the argument, Banks showed up at the victim’s apartment and started shooting as soon as the victim opened the door. He continued firing as the victim sought refuge in the bathroom and pretended to call 911, according to charging papers.
The victim was shot in the cheek, shoulder and hip.
