Simpson is a hurdling guru

Rogers Rams junior Eric Simpson said he refuses to let the disappointment of last May effect his performance on the track in 2013.

Simpson turned in a blistering time of 14.50 seconds in the prelims of the 2012 Class 4A state 110-meter hurdles race in Tacoma and was primed for an even better time in the finals.

Unfortunately it never happened.

Simpson false-started in the finals and was disqualified from the race. Auburn-Riverside's Andrey Zadneprovskiy captured first place in the 110-meter hurdles finals with a time of 14.69. Following his mishap, Simpson displayed class and humility and vowed to redeem himself during the 2013 season.

"I see it as a getting back there and finishing what I started," Simpson said on Feb. 26. "This year is all about getting back there and getting to the finals and actually making it to the end of the race."
